Today’s edition of The New York Times featured an article about a bar opening in Manhattan this coming Friday — a venue that can turn your thirst for protest and libations into charitable donations to entities targeted by Trumpet. Coup, as it will be called, deserves our business and inspired today’s #100Days100Poems piece. Now, who wants to meet for a drink?

A Cinquain Butterfly for a Bar Called Coup

Can bars
#RESIST ? Of course
they can! Call it a Coup
(d’état) alcoolique
–cocktails as
weapons
of charitable giving. Plus
for four years we’ll all be
needing more booze,
won’t we?

For the first 100 days of the Trumpet administration, this blog will feature a new poem of protest, by my own hand and by others. They will be polished gems, or rough cut drafts of rage, or in process pieces searching for peace. They may be haiku or tanka, limericks or lyrics, verses free or fettered. If you would like to submit to this endeavor, please send an email, with poem saved as a word document (.docx) to waxyandpoetic AT gmail DOT com. All rights remain with the author.
